Bull Shit

See link above:

While I agree that piracy is bad and that people should strive to compensate others for their hard work I do feel a little weird when someone comes and says that, proceeds from the illicit businesses are used, "quite frankly, to fund terrorism activities", as Attorney General Alberto Gonzales did. Seriously not everything bad in the world revolves around terrorists. For the most part Arab countries do not use US copy right infringement in the US to make money. What they do, and this is quite different is, take US made media and move into other markets. This means they are selling them in Afghanistan and other countries like that where these companies are not making money anyway. So while I would agree that copy right infringement does help terrorists to a small degree, much less the drugs and/or prostitution, it is not a) hurting US companies and b) this law is not going to hurt it because it is not happening, as much, in the US. What the Attorney General is trying to do is get a law passed by using the same thing that Republicans have been using ever since 9/11, Terrorists. Oh my god if terrorists are going to benefit from it then we should do anything to stop it. Well I for one do not want to be arrested for "attempting to infringe a copyright" because just about anything could go under that. I own a DVD burner therefore I am attempting to burn DVD's which may or may not be copyrighted. I don't like this and I don't like the Patriot Act, Gestapo Act, because they are taking things away for the wrong reasons. If law enforcement really wanted to stop illegal file-sharing all they would have to do is put some files on the servers to tell them who is being bad, end of story. Good night fuck terrorists and fuck dumb laws.

Sorry Nate gets angry. I bought, Windows of all things, and it broke my PC. Illegal copies worked but this basterd child legal one doesn't. But seriously half of the software I have on my computer is used primarily, by others for illegal things. I use them to download Tivo programs to my PC and Burn them to disc but under this law I could probably be tried becuase I owed them.

That reminds me of a South Park episode where they're showing all the stars, like "Now Britney Spears can't get a second airplane." I don't like what congress is trying to do either.

It doesn't. It is just that I do not like that one either and the two are great examples of our rights as citezens getting trumped. 1 by the government and the second by the big companies that are scared to move to a new media type. That being said Warner Music has started a new label that will only by digital and the Atrist will own the music and rights personaly. A huge step even if it is only a ripple in the middle of white water rapids.

Wired News

This is a week or so long debate about Sony Corp. and what some music biz's are willing to do. Root kits are terrible, virus's would shit their binary ass's for the chance to find a computer with one. This is becuase the root kit allows you to hide anything you want from the user and from other programs. Basically the only way to know that it is there is to notice you have less disk space then should then do the correct things to search it out. I think this guy is right on with Boycott but I think he is to small. Boycott all Music labels till the swear to do what the customers want instead of how they want to sell music. For the people.
